Now i used the Drive in another pc (with vista) and vista shows the drive as DVD+RW like its suppose to.

I have a DVD-RW drive, which is also a RAM drive and it shows up in My Computer as DVD-RAM Drive (F:).(no burning problems here).

What software are you trying to use to burn your disks. You may have incorrect speed settings for all I know; may be set on maximum or something higher than the recommended speed, 8x, 12x, whatever. The drive is capable of handling many types of disk, including DVD+RW, so the burn program would be suspect, IMO. (unless it is just giving up - how old is it?) Or the disks; I have no experience with Kypermedia disks, so cannot comment on their suitability. Can you burn with the same program with the drive installed in the Vista PC.

Additional: what is the exact error message you get, when you try to burn - that information may be helpful, to enable suggestions to be made to resolve the issue. I have to make the point that your reply did not answer the questions originally asked; you merely restated your objection to the way the drive shows up and your reluctance to reinstall. Yes, Romeo, I had hoped that all the info given to the OP would convince him that the description is immaterial and it appears to be a burning problem. Chilly, you could always try something else like IMGBURN, to test the drive. I booted with a Linux Disk this morning and it recognised my drive as a DVD-RW drive, whereas Windows XP recognises it as a DVD-RAM drive. Can't make the point any more firmly.
