Fender Banjo Serial Number Lookup
I have a Fender Leo. You can see its picture at I know that the Leo's were made during Fender's 'dark years', and were made in Japan (Fender's new owners started making guitars in Japan to save costs, but it was seen as heresy be the American Fender fans). The name 'Leo' is that of the original Mr. Fender who started the company. I think that they made two different models, the standard Leo and the Leo Deluxe. I think they were made in the late 1970's. Mine is a very well-constructed instrument, and has excellent tuning pegs and very fancy inlays on the neck and pegboard.

I think that it's pretty comparable to the Mastertones, and much higher quality than the Epiphone models that I've seen. Multiplayer Pool Game Script Download there. Someone posted that they were available new for $180 Canadian, which sounds way too cheap for what you get (then again, maybe the standard Leo is much cheaper). It also clearly says 'Fender' in inlays on the pegboard, so it's surprising that Andy might not know who made it. Also, mine has a serial number stamped on the top back side of the pegboard.
I think it's a really good choice for an intermediate player, because you can get good quality without having to pay for the Mastertone name. -Curtis Wygyg 15.08.97 00:00.
