I got the newest (edit: i think its the newest. I got emunand a month back and didnt update since) emunand on my gateway/3ds system and i can download stuff from the nintendo shop (i forgot the actual name but its where you can buy/download games and updates). I want to update my roms to the newest versions but im not sure if i got the usa or europe roms because i did not care about it at the time i got the roms. Im from europe so would downloading a europe update for a rom i have the usa version of change anything? I know the update wont work because of this but will it break anything? If i would get a european rom and replace it with a game i currently have the usa rom from, would it still use the same save file? And my question about CIA files: can i replace normal roms with cia files (after installing them with devmenu) and still use the saves of the old roms?

Click to expand.Saves aren't compatible between.3ds,.3dz and.cia. Saves aren't compatible between regions (at least when simply trying to use a different rom). So you can't do it like that.

As for updates, it doesn't break anything but the game simply won't recognize the update and it will continue to ask to be updated. If you have a rom from a region different from your console's region, you need to find the update online in cia format (the update region needs to match your game's region obviously) and you simply install the cia file to the console.
